Can You believe It?
According to this article there is actually politics involved in the Taum Sauk event.
Here is a Kansas City Star article on a similar subject. I can't resist printing a quote from this article for those of you that don't want to wade through it.
"(Donald) Barnes, the letter’s lead signer, was not available Thursday for comment Thursday. He was recently charged in state court with soliciting a prostitute stemming from a May incident in which he was beaten and stabbed in Shannon County."
So if you have seen TV interviews with Donald Barnes, who served as an adviser to the Ameren FERC Fine Panel, I expect a lot of interesting things to go on here in Reynolds County after this was published in the local paper. Ain't life interesting.

Highway Patrol Sgt. Warren Wiedemann said Barnes was parked on a logging road in Shannon County with Nicole Carey-Parmeley, 24, of Robertsville, with an agreement to pay for a sex act.
Three men and a juvenile who had been riding with the woman when she went to meet Barnes allegedly approached his truck, attacked him and stole his wallet. The complaint did not outline a motive.
Investigators said Jonluc Ettinger, 19, was armed with a pistol and pulled the woman from the truck. She was taken back to her vehicle by Patrick Mitchell, 22, who had a baseball bat.
Ettinger, Lawrence Goure, 17, and the juvenile allegedly hit Barnes several times and stole his wallet. Ettinger allegedly fired several shots at Barnes as he drove away, and Barnes' truck was damaged in the attack. Barnes told authorites the assailants stole about $500 in his wallet and a pistol from the truck.
Court documents said said that in addition to being stabbed, Barnes suffered a broken nose and broken bones in his face.
