Just The News
The events of last Saturday have meant that all the other news is off my radar. However, it does look like maybe some important things might happen with the State/Ameren conflict. I talked to someone yesterday that suggested that this might be the time to write a letter or email to Blunt, Nixon, and DNR and suggest that the public would like to see this settled now.
There also was this article in the News-Leader that bothered me. If the drunks are thrown off the Current River you know where they will come next, the Black. Not that the Black is not out of control on most Saturdays, but we don't need additional drunks with the limited law enforcement in Reynolds County.

We're still trying to figure out what the NPS has against Jell-O shots.
While the rest of the prohibited items are volume/fizzy intoxication or dangerous items, Jell-O is one of the few things which makes vodka palatable. Too many J-shots too fast, and you get really, really sick and cannot continue. (been there, done that, though not on a river). Even so, in moderation spaced through the day, they are no better or no worse than any other liquor.
I want to know how they are going to ban Jello-O shots and still permit the church ladies' Jell-O salad for the float trip. Now, spiked watermelon--that's a story, too!
With the attempt at Prohibition, they're barking up the wrong tree. What they need to prosecute are the bad behaviors associated with excess alcohol, not the alcohol itself. And get rid of the rafts. If you're too drunk to paddle a canoe, you're too drunk to be on the river.
I want to see how this one plays out.
