Rain and Trees
We had about 1.25 inches of rain this afternoon and evening. On the drive to Farmington today I would say that the number of dead trees has doubled since last week.
Archive of posts made between December 25, 2005 and December 14, 2008 about the Taum Sauk Reservoir failure and the damage to the Shut-Ins and the Black River. This blog was posted by Lee Ferber of Peola Valley Pottery in Lesterville. The pottery was closed in 2007.

Lee,
Are the trees dying from a lack of rain over several years or is there some other reason, such as an insect infestation.
Yellowstone has an insect problem which is killing a particular type of tree, not sure which tree.
Don't know and have not seen any articles about the event. Hope it is not as serious as it looks. We had to go to Bismarck today and while there were some brown trees, overall it did not look as bad as Highway V.
