Where the Money Will Go
Here is a good link explaining where the money will go. I find it interesting that some of the $7 million for economic development could go for a sewer treatment plant for Lesterville. There is no doubt that this is needed, but it sure won't do anything to bring new business to Lesterville. I'll also be interested in seeing where the "education" money goes. I'm sure that there are a lot of elected officials in Centerville that are wondering where their piece of the pie is.
One final thing about school money. The old reservoir was valued at about $80 million for tax purposes, the published cost of the new reservoir in $350 million. Does that mean that Lesterville school will have an additional $1.5 million in taxes each year after the plant is completed and working. I see a lot of wasted $$$ for flashy technology.

This has got to be a mistake in the article:
"Ameren will give the Department of Natural Resources the first right to acquire ownership of Church Mountain in Reynolds County, if Ameren decides to sell it in the next 20 years. The right to acquire the land is valued in the settlement at $33 million."
If memory serves correctly, it is 1400 acres. That more than $25000 an acre for a "right of first refusal" of timbered, hilly land in Reynolds County. What is the most forest land has ever sold for by the acre in Reynold's County? $3000 maybe?
