River Clay Glaze


Here is a mug that was glazed with the clay that is in the river from the December 14, 2005 Taum Sauk event. The dark brown glaze is made from 100% river clay fired to 2400 degrees, the only thing I did was sieve the clay through an 80 mesh sieve to remove the small grains of sand that are found in the clay. I probably have enough clay to glaze 60 mugs and I may try to harvest some additonal clay in the future.
